Sadie, the Ocean and other tid bits …

Five walks today & five failed attempts to get Sadie to walk on the beach ! Without physically picking her up and carrying her, I could not get her to go down the stairs to the beach. Sadie prefers the ocean from a distance. She wants nothing to do with the sand under her paws plus she doesn’t like to get her feet wet ! So instead, we walk back & forth along the sea wall. I have a feeling the ocean noise reminds her of thunder.

Had an awesome, hearty breakfast this morning. Of course I love southern biscuits πŸ˜‹! I decided I can do without ever eating collard greens, but, at least I tried them! Too bitter for my taste. And I noticed in the south they add bacon bits to every entree, salad & side dish unless you tell them not to πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ!

I forgot to mention in my previous blog that on the way here I saw my first road kill armadillo ! Lots of creepy crawly critters in the south !! Dragonflies, lizards & these fire ants are annoying as all hell … haven’t seen any groundhogs or skunks πŸ˜‚!

Check out the last pic … it is raining off in the distance in the ocean … so cool!

Enjoy your week everyone!

Florida 🍊

2,650 miles, 72 hours of driving, 8 states & 16 campgrounds since August 12th !

We arrived in Florida this afternoon. We are staying at a beautiful campground where my tiny house is parked about 100 yards from the beach/ocean !! Right now all I hear are the waves crashing onto the beach ! Can’t wait to see the morning sunrise on the ocean! On the 2nd pic, zoom in to see the Atlantic between the 2 RV’s in front on my house !! I’ll let the photos & video speak for themselves !

Shhhh don’t tell Sadie, but, more ocean adventures await her ! πŸ˜‚

Enjoy !! Donna & Sadie 🐾

Jekyll Island

Visited Publix this morning, it’s a Wegmans wannabe, but not quite there yet. Everyone is so polite in every establishment I visited in the south. I’ve never heard so many “Yes Ma’am’s” in my life !!

Georgia is a beautiful state! And this Atlantic Ocean island is quite peaceful & pristine ! Miles of gorgeous beaches surround Jekyll Island. There’s plenty to do on the island; swim, walk, bike, hike, shop & eat.

After a short 17 minute drive, I quickly found out Sadie doesn’t care much about the ocean, the sand or the hot boardwalk! She walked toward the ocean, but as soon as her paws got wet, that was it, she turned around and walked away!

Enjoy the pics & video !

Georgia πŸ‘πŸŒ΄

We arrived in Georgia this afternoon at a beautiful campground #15. Everyone (campers & staff) are very friendly & helpful! As soon as I pulled into my spot, 2 maintenance guys drove up on their golf cart & offered to help me unhitch! πŸ‘

LOTS to do & see here including visiting a dog friendly beach on the Georgia coast !! And there is a Starbucks 1/2 mile from here!! Can’t wait to see the ocean !! I haven’t been to a beach in over 12 years and I doubt that Sadie has ever seen it! This ought to be fun!

This campground is really nice & I especially like the paved parking pads & privacy bushes between campers!! Sadie is happy there is no gravel!!

Say hello to KiKi the barking parrot !! Yes, she barks like a dog!! πŸ¦œπŸ˜‚

And there is another tiny house here too!

Palm Trees, Puppies and Gators, Oh My !!

Drove 3.5 hours to a campground near Hilton Head … plan to visit the island tomorrow.

This place is packed! No recycling here either ! I now have a new mission … to call/petition campground associations to require campgrounds to recycle ! This is campground #14 and it’s amazing all the campers that come & go from campgrounds and all their recycles that go to the landfill !! This lack of respect for the environment really upsets me !

Anyway, Sadie met more pups today & for the first time actually growled at 2 baby bassets … not sure why they upset her, maybe because they were very hyper & Sadie just wanted to walk & chill.

So excited to see Palm Trees 🌴!! Oh, and alligators 🐊 live in the lake next to the campground! Was told (after the fact) not to visit the lake at dusk cuz that’s when they feed.😳 Glad we didn’t get eaten! Check out his head in the red circle in the pic below!

SC also has nuisance Love Bugs 🐜 ! They were splattered all over the front of the house & truck ! Yuck !! A kind neighbor let me borrow a hose to wash them off. They arrive for just two weeks to mate, then afterwards stay stuck together for days! JUST IMAGINE ??!! 🀣

Have a great night !
