Soooo Many Mountains

We’re at a very nice KOA in Virginia ! Drove 4 hours & a little over 200 miles through soooo many mountains! Damn, I had no idea western WV & VA are nothing but mountains! And these aren’t PA Mountains, these are massive, big ass mountains!

We’re only here until Friday, then another 4 hours of driving & we’ll be at Sadie’s doggie campground in NC! We’ll be there a week. She’s excited about that destination!

The first pic is a sunset farewell to gorgeous Stonewall Resort Briar Point Campground!

The 3rd pic is the East River Mountain Tunnel, which separates the 2 states … one side is WV, the other side is VA !

Ref the last pic … There’s plastic on the front window only because I got tired of looking at all the dead bugs that were splattered on it.

I could probably pass a CDL test by now ! 🤣

Sweet dreams y’all !!

My biggest fear …

This place is beautiful … but … this morning I found out that there are slithery reptiles that inhabit the area !!

While walking Sadie this morning, I saw 2 neighboring campers staring at the grass next to their campers … jokingly I yelled, “are y’all looking at a snake?” To my surprise, they yelled back, “YES!” OMG 😲 !

He then said that it was a foot long copperhead, but that soon it will be a dead copperhead ! His friend had walked away but came back with a hatchet & whack! He chopped the sucker in half! They told me copperheads are poisonous! And where there’s one, there are probably more!! Plus, I was told there are rattlesnakes & black snakes here as well 😳! Oh, great 🤦🏻‍♀️!!

I came back to the house & placed some moth balls by my door cuz I read that repels them, but then that was all I could smell, so I threw them away!

I told some nearby neighbors, they seemed concerned for the moment, but, apparently they are used to seeing them and went about their usual routines. 🤷🏻‍♀️

As for Sadie & I, we are now VERY cautious when we go for our walks !!

Home is Where You Park It

Shoutout to my camping neighbor Jared !Before I left PA this morning, he helped me with some tiny house maintenance, he torqued my lugs & checked the air in all 8 tires ! I am very grateful 👍

Then we drove 2.5 hours to a gated gorgeous resort surrounded by a state park lake in West Virginia! This place has rooms, cottages, convention center, campground, swimming, a marina for boating, hiking, gift shop, a gym, a spa 😁, golf course, 3 restaurants & is pet friendly. It’s beautiful here !!

Ref the photos:

3rd pic is the view from my couch!

4th pic … Sadie has a bootie on her back right paw because she has a boo boo from walking in all the damn gravel they have in campgrounds !!

5th pic … See if you can spot my tiny house! Took that pic on my walk to the restaurant.

And, as you can see by the last photo, someone was hungry 😋🤣 !! Enough food for my 3 night visit here. How did I not know about sweet potato fries ??!! Delicious !!

Enjoy your week everyone!

Sadie, S’mores and an Ice Pack

At 4:00 this afternoon there was a knock at my door 😳 … I looked through my blinds & saw that it was the boy next door. I opened the door & he handed me a really sweet handwritten note (see pic below).

That was the first time a camping neighbor ever invited me to eat s’mores & hang out with them by the fire! I accepted the offer.

Promptly at 6:58, Sadie & I went next door. For the next 2 hours, we hung out by the fire, chatted & ate s’mores. Sadie got to experience her first marshmallow, which she was not at all fond of ( it may have been a texture issue cuz she does like sweets) 😂. These folks are from Ohio, they sold their home & are now full time RVers that live in this campground even during the winter & their 2 kids are home schooled.

Her name is Rachel, but I already forgot the husband’s name! Maybe because earlier today I was up in my loft looking for something, forgot about the ceiling beam & straight on whacked my head on it! This injury required an immediate ice pack! I jostled a few brain cells, but, I’m ok!

Tonight was a pleasant welcome change from the dreadfully boring day I had doing laundry, vacuuming & whacking my head! 😂

Enjoy the videos !

1400 miles

Another pit stop below Pittsburgh-campground #9. During the 2.5 hour ride here I got honked at with a thumbs up from a male driver, I drove up & down a portion of the Allegheny Mountains. Drove through a couple small towns, was surrounded by the aromas of freshly harvested hay & cow manure and saw a massive wind farm, I was unable to get a pic, but trust me it was HUGE !!

This place is boring as hell too. Apparently everything in campgrounds close after Labor Day, so, that means you are on your own. One must fend for themself !! One nice thing is that I got the Good Sam & senior discount again !! LMAO !! 🤣

Next stops are West Virginia, Virginia then North Carolina … my friend Lori in FL texted me about an adult campground in NC that caters to dogs !! I looked it up online & it looks like a fun place for Sadie, so, we will probably stay there a week. Since this blog is basically her adventures & she hasn’t had many recently, it is definitely time to stop at a fun place.

As you can see by the pic below, another successful back in !! Atta girl !!

Sadie met good golly Miss Molly tonight … Sadie wasn’t impressed ! 😂🤷🏻‍♀️🐶🐾

Appalachians Pit Stop

I didn’t want to drive 5 hours today to campground #9 located below Pittsburgh, so, we made a pit stop at campground #8, which is located between the Wills & Evitts Mountains at the northern tip of the Appalachians. I never realized that Western PA had such high 😳 mountains! Thank God my truck is awesome !

This is a ‘very mature’ campground. Now that the Labor Day holiday is over, which means camping season is winding down, there is absolutely NOTHING to do here compared to all the activities at the KOA this past weekend ! I am already bored, but, will take this day & a half to plot out campgrounds #11 & #12.

About an hour ago, there were some folks stalking the house on a golf cart, driving in circles until I finally went out & talked to them. They said they heard a tiny house pulled in & they had to come see it! 😂 LOL!

Sadie likes that this place has lots of grass. Lots for her to sniff. She is also happy there are other puppers camping here too! She has already met a few.

Since I have your attention, let me confess … In order to get here I had to go through a bridge that had a sign posted that read, ‘Height 13 feet 6 inches’! 😳 Drove through the middle without incident! Can I get an atta girl & an alleluia??!!

Enjoy your evening! Donna & Sadie 🐾

Activities Aplenty at Gettysburg KOA !

There is no shortage of activities at this campground ! Activities for both children & adults ! There’s assorted crafts, scavenger hunt, make your own rocket launcher, make your own patriotic windcatcher, tie dye your own shirt, create ice cream in a plastic baggie by shaking it with ice & salt and the finale tonight was dancing to the beat of a local band ! What an engaging, fun place !!

Today Sadie sniffed every inch of the doggie playground, made some new dog friends & made sure she was involved in making ice cream with staffers Millie, Gabby, Jen & owner Lorelle ! Thumbs Up !! 👍😃🐾

KOA !!

Currently visiting a really beautiful KOA Holiday campground in Gettysburg ! Its location is off the beaten path, so while driving on some roads here Bertha took out some tree leaves 😳 cuz she is 13.5 feet high! But she survived unscathed.

Anyway, there was a bunch of kids & adults & staff doing an activity near the campground entrance when we rolled in around 2pm. All of a sudden everyone stopped what they were doing and took out their cameras and were either taking pics or video! Really made me smile after a 2 hour drive … that was such an awesome warm welcome!

The staff & campers are really friendly & accommodating! This place is very clean & each site is in its own perfect woodsy setting! Even if you don’t have an RV, they have tent sites & really quaint cabins you can rent. They have a fully stocked general store & a pool.

Sadie is greeting everyone she encounters! They even have a pet playground, which makes Sadie very happy! I highly recommend visiting this campground & I give it a 5 star rating!! We are here until Tuesday morning.

Please enjoy the pics I took today. And yes, I backed in on the first try & was able to unhitch! Thanks again to Tony & Scott! 👍

Happy Labor Day everyone !! 💖😃🐾

Sweet Beagle Angel

My love bug Sadie is resting up so she is bright eyed & bushy tailed tomorrow as we head to the next destination which will be our 7th campground. It is our last stop in PA before heading to Virginia next Tuesday. We are meeting ALL kinds of people. Some friendly, some not. But, that’s ok, I always say hello anyway. Sadie enjoys walking up to folks and greeting them! She is quite the social butterfly! Blessings to all who are living in Florida or have family and friends in the path of Dorian. Have a great night everyone!

Uncle John, Aunt Nancy, Ann & a Dog Squad Reunion

Stopped by my old town on the way to a new campground. Was welcomed by my dear neighbors, my dear friend Ann & my dear Dog Squad friends plus Tony & Scott ! I was greeted with my mail, pizza, wine, & Lori’s delicious baked goods !! Special thanks to Tony & Scott for lubing my hitch ball, making it much easier for me to finally unhitch & have the freedom to go shopping ! Hurray ! I definitely felt the love today ! Made it hard to leave again !

This campground is ok. Like I said before, it’s gonna be hard to beat Lake George !! The tiny house paparazzi have been driving by in their golf carts since I arrived !! I can now understand why celebrities get annoyed !! 🤣

I drove over 5 1/2 hours today, so Sadie & I are tired puppies ! Enjoy the pics ! 💖🐶🐾☮️
