Chicken Stew for the Soul

Sadie and I were taking a walk when we ran into the campground owner who was on his way to the nightly ice cream social. I told him I was leaving in the morning and thanked him for a nice visit. He then told me good luck & that the folks from the campground said I wasn’t going to make it! ๐Ÿ˜ณ WHAT? I immediately said “that’s not nice, don’t say that. Why can’t you pray for our safe travels and encourage me instead?” I thought to myself, is he trying to be funny or is he intentionally being stupid and rude? I guess he didn’t expect me to snap back at him, but I was pissed. He stuttered a bit & said “well we’re just concerned that the Texas winds are going to blow it over.” I shook my head & told him to have a nice night as I walked away.

I was quite taken back by what he said as we walked back to the house, and began questioning my journey. It’s amazing the impact stupid words can have. I locked the door & called it a night. 15 minutes later Sadie & I were surprised by a knock on the door. It was my RV neighbor next to me bringing me a giant cup of homemade chicken stew ! YUM !

My faith in human kindness had been restored. The moral of the story is always think before you speak because there aren’t enough ‘sorrys’ to take back something stupid that you may say.

Sweet dreams everyone!

  1. Wow,I have been impressed with your travels and love that you are following your dreams. Donโ€™t let someoneโ€™s negativity bring you down,. There will be more people like the one that provided that cup of soup. Love Wins.

  2. Wow, that must have stung. Weird to learn that people are talking about you and predicting your outcome. Glad your evening ended better than it began. When you put yourself out there and live life on your own terms, there will be doubters I guess. Iโ€™m glad you are stronger than that.

  4. You are too strong to let other’s words deter your purpose. Remember, you prayed on this before you started the journey. You are the most determined person I know. Can’t wait to see you and Sadie today.
